An alternate line is a spread or total that is a derivative of the standard betting market. These lines will be higher or lower than the main line that is being offered at -110 odds. Alternative lines that have a higher probability of winning will have shorter odds. Consequently alternative lines with a lower probability of occurring will have longer odds.

Example

In the example below the standard spread is set at 9, and the standard total is set at 46.5. Both sides of these lines will have exactly (or close to) -110 betting odds.

Alternative lines are available for both sides of the spread and total. Bettors can increase their chance of winning by sacrificing payout odds. Vice versa, bettors can also exchange a lower win percentage for a higher payout. Here are a list of the alternative lines and their corresponding odds:
