A lock is a sports betting term used to describe a bet that is guaranteed to win. The term is most frequently used by touts to entice bettors into buying their picks. The tout may either sell the self-proclaimed lock individually for a large amount, or provide it for free in hopes that it wins and the customer returns to buy more picks.
